About CBD

What is cannabidiol (CBD)?

CBD is a natural compound extracted from the hemp plant, also known as Cannabidiol. It works with your body’s ECS, or endocannabinoid system.

What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant. They interact with the body's endocannabinoid system, which plays a vital role in regulating various physiological and cognitive processes, such as pain sensation, mood, appetite, and sleep.

There are over 100 cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, with the most well-known being tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). THC is the primary psychoactive compound responsible for the "high" associated with marijuana use, while CBD is non-intoxicating and has been associated with various health benefits.

Cannabinoids work by binding to specific receptors in the endocannabinoid system, known as CB1 and CB2 receptors. These receptors are found throughout the body, including in the brain, immune system, and peripheral nervous system. When cannabinoids bind to these receptors, they can affect various biological processes and produce different effects.

Overall, cannabinoids are important compounds found in the cannabis plant that have the potential to affect the body and mind in various ways, and they have become a subject of interest for their potential therapeutic uses.

Does CBD get me high?

No, CBD (cannabidiol) does not get you high. Unlike THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), another compound found in cannabis, CBD does not have psychoactive effects. This means that consuming CBD will not alter your state of mind or produce the "high" associated with cannabis use.

Is CBD addictive or habit-forming?

CBD (cannabidiol) is not considered addictive or habit-forming. In fact, it is believed to have a low potential for abuse and is generally well-tolerated by most people.

CBD is a non-psychoactive compound found in the cannabis plant and has been studied for its potential therapeutic benefits.

Does CBD interact with medications?

CBD can interact with prescribed medications, so it’s important to talk
with a specialist doctor before adding CBD into your routine.

What is the Endocannabinoid System?

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a complex biological system found in the human body that plays a vital role in regulating various physiological and cognitive processes, including mood, appetite, sleep, immune function, and pain sensation.

The ECS is composed of three main components: endocannabinoids, receptors, and enzymes. Endocannabinoids are naturally occurring cannabinoids produced by the body, while receptors are located throughout the body and bind to endocannabinoids and other cannabinoids, such as those found in cannabis. Enzymes are responsible for breaking down endocannabinoids once they have served their purpose.

The two primary types of receptors in the ECS are CB1 receptors, which are primarily located in the brain and central nervous system, and CB2 receptors, which are primarily located in the immune system and peripheral nervous system.

The ECS works by maintaining a state of balance or homeostasis within the body. When something is out of balance, such as an injury or illness, the ECS produces endocannabinoids that bind to receptors, triggering a response that helps restore balance. This response can involve a range of processes, such as reducing inflammation, modulating pain perception, and regulating immune function.

The discovery of the ECS has led to a better understanding of how cannabinoids, such as THC and CBD, can affect the body and has sparked interest in their potential therapeutic uses. By targeting the ECS, these compounds may be able to help address various health conditions, including chronic pain, anxiety, and sleep disorders.

What is the difference between CBD and Hemp Extract?

CBD (cannabidiol) and hemp extract are often used interchangeably, but they are not the same thing. Here are the differences between CBD and hemp extract:

1. CBD is a specific compound found in the cannabis plant, while hemp extract contains a range of compounds, including CBD. Hemp extract is made from the whole hemp plant, including its flowers, leaves, and stalks, while CBD is usually derived from the hemp plant or marijuana plant.

2.Hemp extract contains various cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, and other beneficial plant compounds that work together to produce what is known as the "entourage effect." This effect refers to the synergistic interaction between these compounds that enhances the therapeutic potential of the hemp extract.

3. CBD is one of the most well-known cannabinoids found in hemp extract and is believed to be responsible for many of the plant's therapeutic effects. However, other cannabinoids, such as CBG (cannabigerol) and CBN (cannabinol), may also have health benefits.

4. Hemp extract may contain trace amounts of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), the psychoactive compound found in the cannabis plant that is responsible for the "high" associated with marijuana use. However, legally available CBD products must contain less than 0.2% THC to comply with federal regulations.

About Clearleaf CBD

Do you test your products?

We rigorously test our raw materials to ensure that they meet our strict quality standards before they even enter our production process. Once the finished product is ready, it undergoes further testing to verify the potency, purity, and safety of the final product.

We believe that transparency is key, and we make all of our lab reports easily accessible on our website. Our customers can have peace of mind knowing that they are purchasing a product that has been thoroughly tested and verified to meet the highest quality standards.

When it comes to CBD, you deserve the best. That's why we go aboveand beyond to ensure that our products are of the highest quality and purity, so you can enjoy all the benefits of CBD with confidence.

How much THC do your products contain?

We take great care to ensure that our products not only meet, but exceed UK regulations.

All of our products contain less than 0.2% THC, which is the legal limit for CBD products in the UK. However, we go above and beyond by subjecting our products to rigorous testing processes that show THC levels at 0.0% (or non-detectable levels, as far as our testing methods will permit).

This means that you can enjoy the potential health benefits of CBD without any psychoactive effects from THC.

Do you use Vitamin E?

No, our products are free from harmful substances, such as vitamin E acetate. We believe that our customers deserve only the best, and that's why we go to great lengths to ensure that every product we offer is safe, pure, and of the highest quality.

What does Broad Spectrum mean?

Broad spectrum CBD is a type of CBD extract that contains a range of cannabinoids, terpenes, and other beneficial compounds found in the hemp plant, but does not contain any THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).

Like full-spectrum CBD, broad spectrum CBD offers the potential health benefits of the entourage effect, where the various cannabinoids and terpenes work together to enhance each other's effects. However, broad spectrum CBD is different from full-spectrum CBD in that it undergoes additional processing to remove all traces of THC.

Isolate vs. Broad Spectrum

Clearleaf CBD offers products made with two types of CBD: isolate and broad spectrum.

Isolate CBD is the purest form of CBD, where all other compounds found in the plant, such as terpenes, flavonoids, plant parts, and other cannabinoids, have been removed.

On the other hand, the Broad Spectrum Drops are produced using a distillate that contains CBD and other "minor" cannabinoids extracted from the hemp plant.

How should I store Clearleaf CBD?

CBD products should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Exposure to heat, light, and oxygen can cause the CBD to degrade, which may affect its potency and effectiveness.

It is recommended to store CBD products in their original packaging to help protect them from outside elements. Additionally, it's important to keep CBD products out of reach of children and pets.

Topicals - Where should I apply?

CBD topicals can be applied to different parts of the body, depending on the type of product and the condition being addressed.

It's important to note that different CBD topicals may have different application methods and recommended areas of use, so it's always a good idea to read the product label.

Topicals - How much should I use?

The appropriate amount of topical CBD to use depends on various factors, including the concentration of CBD in the product, the size of the area being treated, and the severity of the condition being addressed.

As a general guideline, it's best to start with a small amount of CBD and gradually increase the dosage as needed. You can begin by applying a pea-sized amount of the topical CBD to the affected area and massage it into the skin.

If you don't experience the desired effect, you can gradually increase the amount of CBD until you achieve the desired result. However, it's essential to follow the manufacturer's instructions on the product label and not to exceed the recommended dosage.

Why are my drops a different color?

At Clearleaf, we utilise natural ingredients in our products. Since the pigment of hemp plants and herbs can differ from plant to plant, it is normal for the color of your drops to vary.

What if I'm drug tested?

If you consume CBD products that are made from hemp and contain less than 0.2% THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), it is unlikely that you will fail a drug test. This is because drug tests typically look for the presence of THC or its metabolites, not CBD.

However, it is important to note that some CBD products may contain trace amounts of THC, even if they are labeled as containing zero THC. This is because CBD products can be made from full-spectrum hemp extract, which contains a variety of cannabinoids, including trace amounts of THC.

If you are concerned about the possibility of failing a drug test due to CBD use, it is recommended that you use CBD isolate products, which contain pure CBD and no other cannabinoids, including THC.

Why don't I feel anything?

Our products contain pure CBD (cannabidiol) and zero THC, which means they do not induce psychoactive effects or produce the entourage effect. Based on feedback from our CBD users and reviews, many returning customers use our products as part of their daily wellness routine.

If you have recently purchased one of our products and have only used it sparingly, we recommend using it consistently over time to allow it to accumulate in your endocannabinoid system.
